This week (1-7 April 2019) is Type 2 diabetes prevention week.
Around 200,000 people are diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes every single year. Would you know if you are at risk? There are things you can do now to reduce your risk.
Making a positive change to your lifestyle is the first way to make a big impact on your future health. The Healthier You Programme is the free service run by NHS England to help support people reduce their risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
Know Your Risk
Do you know your overall risk for developing Type 2 diabetes? If not, why not take a couple of minutes to check using this Know Your Risk Tool. It only takes three minutes.
Book an NHS health check
Your free NHS health check checks your risk for Type 2 diabetes and other life limiting conditions such as cardiovascular disease. An NHS health check is available for anyone aged 40 to 74 and any new patients registering with the practice.
Check with your nurse or GP
Ask your GP or nurse clinician if you are more at risk of Type 2 diabetes. They can refer you to the Healthier You Prevention Programme.
