Coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine

The NHS is currently offering the COVID-19 vaccine to people most at risk from coronavirus.

The order in which people will be offered the vaccine is based on advice from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI).

The NHS will let you know when it’s your turn to have the vaccine. It’s important not to contact the NHS for a vaccination before then.

You can read more about the COVID-19 vaccine on the nhs.uk website.

Knowsley News have also provided detailed info on your COVID-19 vaccination questions which we urge you to read here.

NHS England/ Improvement proposed there be ‘Primary Care vaccination sites’ across England to be led and staffed by local GP practices. The 3 vaccination sites identified for the borough of Knowsley are the following:

  • Huyton One Stop Shop – Huyton Village
  • Kirkby One Stop Shop – Kirkby Town Centre
  • The Hollies – Halewood

In Knowsley, initially there will be one Primary Care COVID19 vaccination site, at Huyton One Stop Shop, which went live on Tuesday 15 December, vaccinating patients aged 80 and over.

Kirkby One Stop Shop Vaccination site is live as of Thursday 14th Jan 2021. More information will provided in due course on the third vaccination site live date.  This is subject to vaccine availability and readiness.

All those eligible for the vaccine will be invited to receive their vaccination at a pre-booked appointment; there will be no drop in at either hospital or primary care sites. Appointments are limited and are released on a weekly basis.

Patients aged 70+ and those who are clinically extremely vulnerable are now being invited to receive the vaccination. Please do not contact the practice directly to book for a COVID-19 vaccination as we will contact you either by letter, telephone or SMS with details of how to book an appointment.

We are yet to receive guidance from NHS England on vaccinating housebound patients and at present have no further information to provide on this. We expect to receive guidance in due course and if you would like to discuss further please contact Knowsley CCG via email: Knowsley.CCGCommunications@knowsley.nhs.uk

As we find ourselves in this fast-moving situation, we ask for patience from our patients as we work through inviting each at risk cohort to receive the vaccination.

We thank you for your co-operation at this time.
